• When I was writing IN TWILIGHT'S SHADOW, I learned that the hero had a younger sister. As soon as I found that out, I knew her story was next. I also realized that she was in danger and that the Seattle-based troubleshooter for the Gineal was supposed to protect her, but that no one knew the real reason she was at risk. That's all I can say about how the idea formed because any more would be full of spoilers.

• Shona is a dormant who's unaware that she is descended from magic users. She also doesn't know that she has an older brother who stayed with the Gineal people when her parents were expelled.

• Logan has an identical twin, Kel, who's older by a matter of minutes. He also has three younger sisters who he dotes on and indulges.

• Shona is an up-and-coming glass artist who hasn't been able to create for a couple of months.

• Logan's hobby is restoring classic muscle cars from the 1960s and 1970s. During EDGE OF DAWN he owns a 1968 Mustang Fastback, a 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB, and a 1969 Pontiac GTO.

• Shona's parents are living in London when EDGE OF DAWN opens because of her father's job.

• Logan grew up in Naperville, Illinois.

• Shona has a weakness for Frosties.
